HS code FAQ
How do HS code, CN, TARIC and Zolltarifnummer differ?
The HS code is the 6-digit base customs code. The EU extends it to 8-digit CN and 10-digit TARIC. In daily business, Zolltarifnummer or commodity-code wording often refers to these extended versions.
Why can some results not be declared directly?
Results marked as intermediate categories are not final leaf codes yet. You still need to choose a more specific declarable code, and the system highlights direct declarable leaf codes whenever possible.
When is this page most useful?
It is most useful before creating an international shipment, when aligning product classification with a customer, or before filling in customs declarations.
Can I rely on the suggested code without checking it?
No. Search results, translations, examples and future AI suggestions are only guidance. The final code selection and all legal responsibility remain with the customer.
